Christoph Lange studierte von 2004 bis 2011 an der Universität Leipzig Ethnologie und Arabistik. Während seines Studiums wurde er Teil des von Prof. Bernhard Streck und weiteren Nachwuchswissenschaftlern 2005 am Institut für Ethnologie Leipzig gegründeten Forums Tsiganologische Forschung. In diesem Rahmen unternahm er erste Forschungsreisen nach Syrien und Libanon, um zu der dort lebenden Gruppen der Nawar zu forschen. Im Anschluss daran arbeitete er ab 2008 unter der Projektleitung von Prof. Annegret Nippa im SFB 586 "Differenz und Integration" im Teilprojekt A3 "Die Stammeskonföderation der Anezeh: Akteure im Spielraum zwischen den Zentren des Wandels". Als Ergebnis seiner Forschungstätigkeit verfasste er seine 2012 als Monografie erschiene Magisterarbeit zur Beduinität und Authentizität im syrischen Fernsehdrama. Zusätzlich zu seiner wissenschaftlichen Tätigkeit für den SFB 586 war Christoph Lange an der Verwirklichung der beiden erfolgreichen SFB-Abschlussausstellungen "Brisante Begegnungen" und "Wahlverwandtschaften" im Hamburger Museum für Völkerkunde beteiligt.

Von 2014 - 2018 war er wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter von Martin Zillinger im Research Lab "Transformations of Life" der a.r.t.e.s. Graduate School for the Humanities Cologne. Seit 2018 arbeitet er als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter in Lehre und Forschung an der Professur von Martin Zillinger am Institut für Ethnologie.

In 2020 schloß er seine Promotion zu dem Thema "Decolonizing the Arabian Horse - The Breeding, Circulation and Certification of the Straight Egyptian Arabian in the 21st Century" erfolgreich ab. Momentan entwickelt Christoph Lange ein Postdoc-Projekt zu Liminalen Infrastrukturen und Krisen im Mittelmeerraum.

Aktuell ist Christoph Lange Sprecher der DGSKA Regionalgruppe Mittelmeeraum und in 2021 war er Mitherausgeber auf dem CASTAC Platypus Blog
